Pure shea butter is solid at room temperature in cooler weather and soft when it is warm. A small amount covers a large area.
Using it on your body
- Scoop a pea-sized amount with clean, dry fingers.
- Rub it between your palms for a few seconds until it melts.
- Smooth it onto slightly damp skin after bathing. Focus on dry areas such as elbows, knees and heels.
- Use less than you think. If your skin feels greasy, you have used too much.
Storing it
- Keep the lid closed and keep the tub out of direct sun.
- Use clean, dry fingers or a small spoon, so water and dirt don't get into the tub.
- Unrefined shea butter can vary a little in colour and smell from batch to batch. That is normal for a natural product.
Before you start
As with any new product, try a little on a small patch of skin first, such as the inside of your arm, and wait a day.
If your skin stays very dry, cracked, itchy or sore for more than a couple of weeks, see a doctor or a pharmacist.
This is general advice, not medical advice.
